Since we just talked about awesome Mother’s Day gifts… Let’s make that gift last longer.
Once upon a time I had a bath instagram. Yup… I took that many baths…I would get friends and family asking me about how I afford Lush products and how I make those products last for ever. So, here’s me sharing my knowledge with all of you!
P.S. Lush products make GREAT gifts at a bargain!
Here are my quick tips on how to save big money on Lush products!
The Boxing Day sale!
Soooo Lush doesn’t do sales. Sucko. EXCEPT once a year on Boxing Day, otherwise known as the day after Christmas, 12/26. On this day and this day only Lush attempts to clear out their Christmas inventory (and sometimes the Halloween inventory) with a BOGO or, this past year, a 50% off all holiday items sale! It’s the best time to stock up on things like bath bombs, face products, and bubble bars. The nice thing about this sale is that not every holiday item is screaming Christmas. Pro tip: the gift boxes will often have year round stuff in them and those are considered holiday inventory!
This sale is done online and in store although, if your family is amenable, I recommend going in person. The inventory is typically more stocked and you get the benefit of smelling the items before buying.
Use Your Refrigerator!
One way to make your products last longer is by putting them in the fridge. I use this hack when it comes to things with fresh ingredients like LUSH face masks. By putting them in the fridge you are able to prolong the shelf life just like you would with food. Bonus! Face masks feel a-mah-zing on your skin fresh from the fridge. Nice and cool and relaxing!
Air Tight Containers
The biggest piece of advice I have is put your bath bombs, bubble bars and bath oils in air tight containers. Not only does this help preserve the scent it also eliminates the possibility of moisture damaging the product. I mean, if you think about it, the products are activated with water so keeping moisture away = longer lasting product!
Bottom line: Lush products are meant to be enjoyed fresh. Buuuuut that doesn’t mean you need to use things up right when you buy them. Take the expiration dates with a grain of salt and do what you can to streeeeetch that dollar!
Bubble Bars
Branded as “reusable” or not, bubble bars are the best bang for your buck at Lush. You can typically get 2-4 baths out of each one. I highly recommend chopping them up and keeping them in a mason jar or other air tight container. From there you can hold a handful under the running bath (although you might stain your hands) or spoon some in a small sieve to run under.
What tricks do you use to save a dollar?
