and for under 6 bucks! (ish… Dollar Tree went up to $1.25 Tree now)
It’s officially summer!!!!! Ok ok ok maybe not quite yet but I know Dollar Tree is going to sell out of this stuff once it gets hot soooo…Let’s get this party started!
The first thing you should know about me is, I LOVE a good deal. I love it so much my husband often makes fun of me for the lengths I go to just to save a buck. I once made him wait until a bin was onside then drive to a specific target to get it for a dollar off. It was only $6 to begin with but hey, we needed like 10 of them so that’s $10. Your welcome!
The second thing you should know about me is, I love seasonal decor, especially wreaths. Wreaths are a great way to add a little festive flair without having crap all over your house. I have a thing for wreaths, so much so I had to add a second wreath hanging rod in our garage. Sorry not sorry. They are just SO EASY to swap out and give your home a facelift. If there was one thing that I think everyone should have it’s a wreath on your door at all times. It looks good no matter the season! This particular wreath is in our backyard now though (where I want to see it as I sip my pina colada (ok ok fine, coconut la croix)!
Here’s what you’ll need for a summer wreath on the cheap:
- Wreath Form. I used a 14″ form I picked up at The Dollar Tree, but you can pick one up at any craft store (but Dollar Tree is cheapest!).
- 4 Leis. Once again…The Dollar Tree for the win!
- A Wooden Sign. I got mine at… you guessed it!… The Dollar Tree.
- Hot Glue.
- **BONUS** Hair Spray. You only need this if you have a wooden sign with glitter!
Did you add that up? $6 for supplies (I already had the hot glue and hairspray 😊)
Step One
Apply a small spot of hot glue to the form and attach the lei. Begin to wrap the lei around the form spreading out the flowers to cover the form completely. Once you finish one lei apply another spot of hot glue to keep it in place. Keep going until the wreath form is completely covered.
** In hindsight, I would have preferred to used 4 leis instead of 3 to get full coverage, but… c’est la vie.
Step Two
Now’s the time, if you have a glittery sign, to spray the crap out of it with hairspray. If you make like it’s 1985 and coat that sucker you will avoid the spreading of glitter for years to come. Ask anyone who crafts and they will tell you glitter is the herpes of the crafting world. Once one thing has it- it gets spread around!
Once it’s thoroughly coated, apply hot glue on the wreath where you’d like the sign to sit. I highly recommend testing the placement of this before hitting the hot glue. Once you’ve made your choice glue it down!
Step Three
Grab a (you guessed it) Dollar Tree wreath hanger and pick a door! Sit back with your favorite adult beverage and enjoy your new decor!
