This is #4 in the Bergman Brothers (and sisters) series and I’ve been along for the ride. This story follows Axel Bergman, a broody artist on the spectrum that has had a crush on his brother’s girlfriend’s best friend Rooney. After a surprise kiss during a game of charades the pining grows and through a marriage of connivence only deepens. Rooney, the sunshine in this duo, has also had a crush on Axel for years, suffers from a chronic IBD. Both allow the sexual tension to eb and flow and eventually allow it to… boil over.
You’re in for a grumpy/ sunshine, marriage of convenience with, of course, authentic illness & disability inclusion that Chloe Liese does so well.
Overall this book was an easy read but fell a little flat for me. Marriage of connivence is already not my favorite troupe but this book drove me a little nuts. Both MCs had crushes on each other and new it and yet they wouldn’t just talk to each other! This always makes me crazy. The crux of the plot completely settled on the fact that they didn’t just have a conversation. However, there were some great steamy scenes and of course, some Washington state scenery porn.
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Format: Audiobook
Troupes: Second chance romance
Read this if you like: Indiana Jones/ National Treasure/ Holes, if you were a horse girl… this one’s for you!
