LISTEN. I know that organization can be very expensive. Especially if you buy everything at places that are…well, let’s just say above some budgets *cough* The Container Store *cough*. Don’t get me wrong, there are some things that are a must buy from those more expensive places, however I don’t think many people realize that not all of their organization products need to be expensive to work. On that same note, I don’t think many people realize the glory that is Dollar Tree.
TLDR: Don’t sleep on Dollar Tree!
Below are my top 10 Dollar Tree products for organization and how I use them around my house.
#1 Die Cut Bins
I use these ALL OVER my house. They typically get released in January and in the Spring/ Summer and they come in all shapes and sizes. I love the “big boys” for larger storage or those cube shelves it feels like everyone has (guilty!) and the smaller ones for “pretty storage” specifically paper storage & drawer storage. **Be careful! They have some that are there all year round that have the polka dot dye cut pattern. These are very flimsy. You’ll immediately know the difference between the stronger better quality vs. the thin plastic ones. Don’t get me wrong, I use the thin plastic ones too but not for heavy storage!
Found in the storage section or the seasonal section.
(See? I do like The Container Store and used the label clips on those green bins 😉)
#2 Bins w/ Tops Attached
Whaaaaaaat? The top is attached and I won’t loose it. YES GIRL. That’s right. These bins are fantastic for any and all smaller clutter. I’ve used these to organize games, crafts, cards but my favorite is in the bathroom. These are at the back of my vanity used for my extra contacts & extra products (you know I shop at Costco and this is where that extra deodorant goes from the big packs!).
Found in the storage section.
#3 Two for $1 and Three for $1 Baskets
These are FANTASTIC for drawer storage of all kinds. They typically come in blue & white and are fairly standard size and sturdy. Plus- these are less than a dollar. I mean you just can’t beat it. I use these for craft supplies and office organization in my home.
*Bonus- if the ones with the slats aren’t for you, Dollar Tree does have solid ones for $1 each. Still a great deal!
**DOUBLE Bonus- they just released new prettier versions of these that have a fancier die cut pattern. Keep your eyes out!
Found in the clothing section or storage section.
#4 Locker Bins
These are relatively new to me because my Dollar Tree hardly has them in stock, but recently there were a few so I picked up 4 of them. These bins are great storage because they have a nice large bottom i.e the sides don’t come in and disrupt your storage ability. If you’re crafty these are also one of the #1 upscaled & DIY bins out there. I’ve been using them around the house for what I am calling “kits”. Since I’m pregnant and getting ready for postpartum life and putting together kits for each bathroom for…ya know… all the healing going on down there.
Found in the storage section or the seasonal section.
#5 Laundry Baskets
Of course these are good for laundry but I’ve never had this little amount of laundry in my life. If you do- good for you, you’re living the dream. However, these are great beyond laundry! These are some of my favorite things for outside. Because they have holes in the bottom they allow for dirt, water, sand etc. to slip right through. I use these for dog toys outside and plan on it for outdoor toys for kiddos.
Found in the storage section, the clothing section or sometimes just in a pile in a random isle. Keep eyes out!
#6 Small Bins with Locking Lids
I love these little guys. I used them in my house for craft organization. These are GREAT for items that are going to be taken out, used, then put back like pens, markers and crayons. They are also really wonderful for high up storage places since they have a lid that is tightly attached to the container.
Found in the storage or food section.
#7 Pan Organizer
Woah! Yes please! Once again these are great exactly as they were meant to be. I use these for my pans and they are awesome. I’ve also seen these used for pot top holders and for organizing tupperware tops (you can also use the napkin holders for this!).
Found in the kitchen section.
#8 Labels
Holy labels Batman! I love love love the labels here and use them all over the house. My favorites are the chalk clothespin type, the chalkboard tags & the label stickers. Don’t get me wrong I’m not throwing away my label maker or my Cricut (you couldn’t make me) but man these labels are great. I use the tags for woven baskets, the clips are all over and the stickers are great if you don’t have a label maker or if you’re looking for a fancier version.
*Bonus- The chalk markers that they sell in the craft section are pretty darn good too!
Found in the craft section, teacher section and/or office section.
#9 Glass Jars
Did you know the Dollar Tree has mason jars? Yep! NOW here’s where I’m going to spit some truths. If you are looking for bulk mason jars you can get a better deal elsewhere like Amazon or Walmart. HOWEVER, if you are looking for one or two of the the “fancy jars” or jars with sealed lids Dollar Tree is the place to be. I also have a DIY project for summer with these bad boys. Check it out 😉
Found in the glassware and/ or floral section.
#10 Coated Wire Baskets
Specifically the rounded ones. I love these and use them all over. Currently using one as our mask basket or “masket” if you will (thanks 2020). These are great as catch all type bins, the holes are small so a lot doesn’t get through them and they can be spray painted and DIYed in so many different ways.
Found in the cleaning section of my Dollar Tree but others have told me that they are in the clothing section and the office section of theirs. Keep eyes out!
⭐️BONUS⭐️ #11 Poster Tack
Use this in drawers to keep your baskets from shifting around when you open them! Renter friendly and totally amazing trick. Thanks to Kathryn from Do It On A Dime for the inspo!
Found in the office section.
P.S. Did you know you can order items in bulk on DollarTree.com? If you’re doing a big makeover, check out the website to get often out of stock items in packs!
Hopefully this is a good jumping off point for your Dollar Tree adventures! Tell me, what’s your favorite Dollar Tree product? or How do you use these around your house?
